She first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1848, and returned in 1849, 1850 and 1853.
Her talent was quickly recognized: her canvases are characterized by a delicate atmosphere, diffused light and misty horizons featuring sailboats, rowboats and fishing scenes.
His seascapes, appreciated for their gentle, poetic quality, gradually found their way into public collections: Avignon, Blois, Brest, Nantes, Orléans, Rennes and Île Tatihou now preserve his paintings.
In the first painting, the artist depicts a contemplative and poetic atmosphere, characteristic of his art, which excels at conveying the changing effects of light and the tranquility of seascapes. The brushwork is fine and measured, and the delicate palette reinforces the feeling of calm and harmony between man, the sea, and the sky.
In the second, he demonstrates remarkable mastery of the movement of water and atmospheric effects. The cool tones—deep blues, dark greens, and cloudy grays—are enhanced by luminous touches in the foam and reflections, bringing the scene to life. This work reflects the artist's enduring interest in the sea, sometimes peaceful, sometimes formidable, but always majestic.
