William Joseph Julius Caesar Bond (1833-1926)
William Joseph Julius Caesar Bond, n was a British painter specializing in seascapes and river landscapes.
The son of a schoolteacher, he benefited from a favourable educational environment from an early age, and quickly turned to art.
He apprenticed with miniaturist Thomas Griffiths, then came to the attention of Pre-Raphaelite collector John Miller, who became his patron.

His early works bear the hallmarks of Pre-Raphaelitism, with a keen sense of detail and highly polished compositions. Bond began exhibiting in the 1850s at the Liverpool Academy, of which he became a member in 1859, and in London at the Royal Academy and the Society of British Artists.
Over time, his style evolved towards freer painting, influenced by J. M. W. Turner: luminous landscapes, atmospheric effects, seasides and river scenes from his travels in England, Wales and the Netherlands.
