Annette Gardiner or Anne

was an artist active in the early 20th century, likely British but based in Paris.
She exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1900 and 1913.
Her works primarily depict Parisian cityscapes, often the Seine at dusk or by night, in a style influenced by late Impressionism, characterized by a delicate attention to light and reflections.
Among his well-known paintings is “View of the Seine in the Evening, with the Pavillon de Flore and the Pont Royal” (oil on canvas, exhibited at the Salon in 1904).

This delicate piece immerses us in the atmosphere of a Parisian evening on the banks of the Seine.

In the Parisian night, the Pont Royal and the Pavillon de Flore are reflected in the Seine, whose waters ripple as a boat stirs to life. The light from streetlamps and windows reflects off the water, creating a gentle, rhythmic shimmer that captures the eye and guides the composition.

The handling of light is particularly refined: twilight envelops the scene in a veil of gray and purple, while scattered touches of orange and yellow suggest human activity—discreet yet present.
