The Regency style has the rigor of Louis XIV armchairs and the beauty of Louis XV.
But Régence is above all the exaltation of curves. The curved line imposes itself slowly and inexorably.
Flat, slightly violin-shaped backrests, known as "fauteuil à la reine", became the model of choice.
