Laborne is known for his landscapes and urban views, notably of Paris, the Normandy coast and Spain.
His works are marked by a great finesse of light, soft colors and a sensitive eye for atmosphere and architectural details.
"Laborne knows how to render light as others paint forms: with naturalness and discretion," wrote a critic on his death in 1913. "
From his compositions of dense ensembles, there is not a detail, or even a point of the setting, that escapes him, and he excels, moreover, in rendering every movement, attitude and physiognomy."
