Émile-Louis MINET 1841-1923

Born in Rouen, where his father ran a drinking establishment.
Very early on, young Émile showed a talent for drawing, and his father entrusted him to an Indian designer.
He stayed there for 3 years, not appreciating the industrial side of things.
He then learned wool weaving in Elbeuf.

At the age of 25, in partnership with his father, they set up a drapery finishing business, which eventually collapsed due to the recession.

Émile-Louis returned to his passion and, with financial help from friends, attended the École de Dessin de Rouen under the guidance of Gustave Morin.
He perfected his skills with Parisian painters Humbert, Jules Lefebvre, Gervex and Guillemet.
