Eugène Claude exhibited in all the major Parisian Salons and received numerous medals. (honourable mention, third class in particular at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889)
Eugène Claude's talent shows his knowledge of nature. He modernised the great Dutch style, which brought him great success. He liked to use light and shade, chiaroscuro.
The composition of his paintings is always well thought out. He also paid great attention to the rendering of materials: the velvetiness of peaches or the brilliance of grapes.
