Georges Guiraud developed a taste for the arts at a very early age through his father, who was an officer in the Public Education system and also a painter and illuminator.
He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, then in Paris with the sculptor Jean Boucher as his master.
His career is a succession of prizes: 1923, silver, 24, bronze, 26 he is Prix de Rome...)
In 1942, he was appointed official painter and engraver of the Ministry of the Navy.
Like many sculptors, after the two wars, he had many commissions for war memorials.
