The table is stamped twice by the cabinetmaker Louis Noël Malle (1734-1782) and has its chips, dice and top. He was a renowned 18th century cabinetmaker who liked to work with ebony and coloured woods.
Trictrac was a very popular board game in France in the 17th and 18th centuries, at court and in aristocratic circles.
It is one of the games of reasoned chance such as backgammon. Often made of precious wood, decorated with gilded bronzes, the top is removable and leaves room for the game rack.
