Between his installation in Bordeaux in the 1920s and his consecration as a surrealist artist, Molinier executed works of classical style, landscapes of Bordeaux and the Lot and numerous family portraits, notably of his daughter Francoise who is the subject of our work.
Painting in the open air, the structure and the softness of his landscapes bring him closer to the impressionists.

These portraits, like the little Françoise, colored with a lively and expressive touch, are more reminiscent of the expressionists.
