A pupil of Harpignies and Pradelles, he began participating in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1887, winning several medals. Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
Strongly influenced by Corot and Théodore Rousseau, he painted landscapes with bold layouts and a glazed palette. His works include: L'hiver - La chaumière à Andernos - Le gros chêne.
