He studied from nature. He settled in Schaerbeck in 1879.
He won medals in Amsterdam (1883), Munich (1888), Bremen (1890), Berlin (1891), Antwerp and Vienna (1894), Brussels, Barcelona and Athens.
Professor at the Higher Institute of Arts in Antwerp in 1895, active member in 1902 and knight of the Order of Leopold
He painted passages with figures, popular scenes and animals. He also designed posters.
