Henri Maurice Cahours paints the streets of Montmartre, but soon specializes in seascapes, landscapes, genre scenes of Brittany.

Every year from 1920, he went to Brittany and frequented Douarnenez...
The artist's seascapes resemble those of the painter Marquet, with a well-tempered palette, made up of a few subtle colors delicately modulated, creating a contemplative atmosphere.

However, Cahours produced very lively genre scenes, with a lively, cheerful, lively and colorful touch where all the soul of Brittany resounds.
Here we see a procession called the Breton pardon.

A pardon is a form of pilgrimage mainly found in Brittany. A pardon is organized at a fixed recurring date, in a determined place and is dedicated to a precise saint.
The pardon includes a mass and an outdoor procession to a sacred place following a determined route. The relics of the saint and banners are part of the procession. Some processions can be particular: some are circular (the troménies), others can have a route at sea.

In addition to the frame that delimits the scene in triptych, the composition is clearly visible. The grandmother and her granddaughter on the left, in the center the beginning of the procession and on the right in the background the church. The artist shows the viewer the happiness of the inhabitants.
