Charles Tcherniawsky (1900–1976)
Born in 1900 in Bobruisk, Belarus (then part of the Russian Empire), Charles Tcherniawsky moved to Paris in the early 1920s, where he joined what is known as the École de Paris.
A painter and printmaker, he began exhibiting at the major Parisian salons at a very early age—notably the Salon d’Automne, the Salon des Indépendants, and the Salon des Tuileries—while also holding solo exhibitions at several renowned galleries in the capital.

His style, at the crossroads of Post-Impressionism and Expressionism, reveals a vibrant style of painting, characterized by a rich texture and a warm color palette.
