Thanks to the teachings of Maurice Denis and Paul Sérusier, he rubbed shoulders with the great names of early 20th-century painting. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants in 1910.
In the post-war years, he exhibited again regularly at the Salon d "Automne and the Salon des Indépendants, as well as abroad (notably in Japan).
In 1928, Bergevin returned to his hometown and settled there permanently with his wife.
His clean, uncluttered painting is part of the Post-Impressionist movement, inspired by the great names of his time.
