FAXON Richard
Born in Bordeaux in 1830, he soon specialized in seascapes and landscapes.
He was a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Durand-Brager . He was exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1859 to 1875.
He painted landscapes and seascapes inspired by his native region and the Breton coast.

His seascapes are a blend of French naturalism and British romanticism.
"His skies are always deep, his ships and sailors always well drawn.
These skies, at once shadowy and lightning-filled, are his hallmark.
