Based in Blaye-les-Mines,
he drew his inspiration from the region's rolling landscapes and special light.
His style evolved towards post-impressionism and pointillism, influenced by his friend Henri Martin.
His works, often done en plein air
capture the beauty of rural scenes, female figures and the play of light.

Joseph Bernard Artigue leaves a rich artistic legacy, testifying to his obsession with light and his attachment to everyday life in the South of France.

A path opens up between two tides of flowers,
like a whisper of eternal spring.

Under the vibrant brush of Joseph Bernard Artigue,
the garden awakens in an abundance of colors:
flamboyant reds, sunny yellows,
soft pinks and deep greens
mingle in exuberant harmony.

Every touch seems alive,
every leaf pulses with light.
The soft blue of the sky lets through
the clarity of a suspended day.

A fervently painted corner of paradise,
a tribute to nature in all its abundant grace.
