Odette PAUVERT-TISSIER (1903-1966)
is a Parisian painter.
She was the first woman to obtain one of the greatest distinctions for a painter, the Prix de Rome.

Born into a family of painters, she was a student of William Bouguereau.
She says herself " My childhood was wrapped up in the love of painting. I never imagined life without a palette in my hand!»

She quickly won numerous awards (honourable mention, silver and gold medals) and in 1925 the Prix de Rome.
She stayed in Italy at the Villa Medici from 196 to 1929.

On her return to France, she received numerous commissions. (decoration of the Saint-Esprit church in the 12th arrondissement of Paris and two pavilions at the Universal Exhibition in 1937)

Odette Pauvert's painting is an encounter between modernity, the Italian primitives and the great Spanish masters.
She was inspired by the artists of her time, such as Maurice Denis.
