"We see the affirmation of a personal talent very sensitive to variations in values and colour harmonies. Portraits with a lot of character, a fat and pleasant material (...) a set of very sensitive paintings".
Irène or Irma Kalebdjian, born in 1910 in Paris of Armenian parents.
In 1930, at the age of 25, she won the Prix de Rome for the subject of the Birth of Aphrodite.
She painted religious frescoes, notably for the church of Sainte Jeanne de Chantal in Saint-Cloud.
Between 1932 and 1940, she received five commissions from the French State.
