Henri VIGNET (1857–1920)

A representative of the Rouen School, Vignet was a painter, interior designer, antique dealer, and musician. A contemporary of Albert Lebourg and Joseph Delattre—other leading figures of the movement—he was part of a generation of painters who reimagined the landscape.
He is known for his devotion to the architectural heritage of his region, Rouen, and the banks of the Seine.

He trained at the Académie Sainte-Marie in Rouen, then associated with Joseph Delattre and the art critic Georges Dubosc, with whom he became close friends and who would be of great help in gaining recognition for his work.
He exhibited his first paintings at the Rouen Salon in 1884.
