Philippe GRONDARD 1862-1928
He started at the Académie Julian from 1879 to 1882, Grondard, then the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1882 with Jules Lefèbvre, Gustave Boulanger (1824 - 1888) as his teacher. And Fernand Cormon.
He became a member of the French Artists' Society in 1887, and exhibited at the Salons from 1886 to 1912, as well as at the International Exhibition of Black and White in Paris in 1885 and 1892 where he won a bronze medal.

His work is essentially linked to his activities within the artistic community based in Ecouen, Seine-et-Oise.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of the English art critic John Ruskin (1819 - 1900), Ecouen attracted many artists.
His work is mainly focused on the representation of rural life scenes, in particular with children's activities and rustic interiors.
