Dimensions 41 × 48 cm

He painted many figures and portraits of elegant young women and girls, lively views of Paris with their flower sellers.

He was especially noted for his market scenes, vegetable markets, poultry markets, fish markets, and especially flower markets, of a kindly realistic inspiration, focusing particularly on small picturesque details.

Victor Gilbert also loves country life, scenes from Normandy or elsewhere, where he magnifies rural life. He gives to his country scenes a poetry and a love that honors the farmers.
