French painter, he is known for his equestrian paintings, and for having been the first master of Toulouse Lautrec.
Landscape painter and portraitist, René Princeteau, translates perfectly the era of the great crews, the hunting with hounds and the horse races.

Painted with an alert touch, this is characteristic of the work of René Princeteau, known for the agility of his brush that translates so well the movement and the feeling of speed and lightness of the horse and its rider.

He studied at the Institute for young deaf people in Paris. After attending sculpture classes in Bordeaux, he studied in 1865 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, under the direction of Auguste Dumont.
He exhibited busts and genre paintings at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1868. He became famous with his paintings of horses at the 1885 Salon.
