French painter of seascapes, genre scenes, portraits, nudes...
In 1906, he entered Jean Pierre Laurens' studio at the Académie Julian, then Gabriel Ferrier's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1908.
He has exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris since 1918, and has taken part in almost all the Parisian salons: Tuileries, Automne.... In 1929, he helped found the École de Montmartre with Dignimont, Asselin, Pascin, Bonnard and others.

Although he painted still lifes, flowers, portraits and nudes, it's his cityscapes, especially those of Paris and its bustling district with its hawkers, that best create his personality.
A realist with a modern touch, he follows in the tradition of Marquet.
True to the style of the 1930s, he favors precisely contoured shapes and flat colors.
