This still life straddles the line between decorative art and the modernism of the 1925–1935 period.

In the foreground, a red fabric with geometric borders structures the composition.
In the center, the green lamp with its faceted shade becomes the vertical axis of the painting. Its angular shape interacts with the simplified forms of the objects on the table. Behind them, the flowers on the wallpaper extend the setting and create a deliberate blurring of the line between real space and ornamental space.

 The forms are deliberately simplified, almost cut-out, with a concise style reminiscent of certain artists influenced by the Nabis, decorative post-Cubism, and certain Central European movements of the 1930s. There is also a hint of the decorative experiments of Art Deco.
