Victor CHARRETON (1864-1936)
Victor Charreton, an Auvergne painter born in Clermont-Ferrand, was one of the most gifted artists of his generation.
His success was rapid and his reputation quickly spread beyond the salons, with exhibitions in France, Geneva, the United States and Japan. London, New York, Geneva

He also studied conservation techniques.
This research enabled him to discover painting on "finette",a fluffy fabric that enhances the vaporous character of his paintings."

He will receive numerous medals:
honorablemention in 1910,
silvermedal in 1912,
goldmedal in 1913.

Charreton's career was marked by numerous medals and a legion of honour.
In 1903, he co-founded the Salon d'Automne with the painter Pierre Bonnard.

Victor Charreton belongs to a generation of painters
devoted almost exclusivelyto landscapes,
after the Impressionists.
Almost all his work is devoted to the Auvergne mountains near Clermont-Ferrand.
