Charreton's career was marked by numerous medals and a legion of honour.
In 1903, he co-founded the Salon d'Automne with the painter Pierre Bonnard.

Victor Charreton belongs to this generation of painters
who devoted himself almost exclusively to landscapes,
after the impressionists.
His research into colours and techniques for preserving works of art enabled him to discover painting on "finette":
a fluffyfabric that allows him to reinforce the vaporous character of his paintings.

For the painter:
"A painting should be a rare arrangement of colours and lines arranged for our visual preference, and evoke in us a moment of inner life.....
I would like to follow only my instinct to seek beauty in nature.
