The painter loves women: he depicts them in bust form, or only lingers on their faces. Wallpaper is often used as a background. A common feature is that they almost all wear colorful turbans (perhaps a sign of his passion for Spain).
Far from his landscapes and history paintings, which are often dull and strict, his portraits are light and cheerful. The women look you in the eyes and smile as if they carry mysteries.
