La Chercheuse d'esprit is a one-act comic opera by Charles-Simon Favart, with music by Jean-Claude Trial, first performed on February 20, 1741 at the Foire Saint-Germain in Paris.
The play was so successful that it was performed at several fairs and in many French and foreign theaters until the end of the 18th century. Following this triumph, Favart was appointed director of the Opéra-Comique.
