Bouret found his inspiration in mythology, graceful female figures and popular characters, to whom he lent a gentle elegance and attention to detail. Among his most popular subjects were Pierrot au clair de lune and Psyché au tribunal de Vénus, which won him an award at the 1885 Salon.
Specializing in decorative bronzes, Bouret also creates sculptures in marble, plaster and terracotta.
His favorite themes are mythology, allegorical figures and popular or historical characters(Pierrot, Diane, Jeanne d'Arc).
His style is characterized by fine detail and romantic elegance, typical of salon sculpture in the XIXᵉ century.
Some of his works have stood the test of time, such as his bust of the writer Alexis Bouvier, which still adorns a tomb in Père-Lachaise.
Pierrot Au clair de la lune is his best-known sculpture.
