These candleholders are by the emperor's goldsmith Pierre Paraud.
A famous Parisian silversmith, he was active between 1800 and 1812 and specialised in liturgical pieces.
The emperor entrusted him with the silverware for the royal chapel in the Tuileries, of which the Louvre Museum now holds a few pieces dating from 1806 to 1813.
He also produced a highly prized collection of torches and candleholders.
