When he was very young, he started working in the textile industry in Paris.
But his passion for drawing never left him, so he entered the Beaux-Arts in the studio of Fernand Cormon.
Very quickly, his painting was influenced by the impressionists, as well as Cézanne and Vlaminck.
While traveling extensively throughout Europe, he continued to paint and exhibited in the various salons of his time where critics appreciated his paintings.

The works of Maurice Asselin are full of life and colorful, his touch is lively and light.
