Louis Robert Carrier-Belleuse
1848-1913
comes from an illustrious family of artists.
His father, Albert, was one of the greatest sculptors of his time, and also Director of Works at the Manufacture de Sèvres.
His brother, Pierre, was a renowned painter.
Louis Robert began by working in bronze, then took courses at the Ateliers
Boulanger and Cabanel.
He embarked on a major career as a ceramist at Sèvres and became director of the Choisy-le-Roi factory.
In painting, he devoted part of his time to Parisian trades, genre scenes and troubadour painting.
He received numerous medals and his works were purchased by the French state and exhibited in numerous museums.
