Jules René HERVE 1887-1981
French painter.
With a predisposition for drawing, and later painting, Jules-René Hervé moved to Paris in 1908, where he continued his studies at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs.
He exhibited for the first time at the Salon des artistes français in 1910.

From 1911 to 1943, he taught painting to many generations of artists.
He won a silver medal at the 1914 Salon des Artistes Français.
Enlisted in the First World War, he put his career on hold.
In 1924, he traveled Europe on a French government scholarship.
He was awarded a gold medal at the 1925 Salon des artistes français, and a gold medal at the 1937 Universal Exhibition.
He is elected vice-president of the Salon des artistes français.
Hervé's poetic depiction of the Parisian city, in the wake of the Impressionists, is marvelous, with a freer, more lively touch.
