William Laparra had a great career and a hundred of his works were acquired by national museums, including the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay.

The portrait occupies a prominent place in his work.
The painter loves women: he depicts them in bust form, or only lingers on their faces. A wallpaper often serves as a background.
A common feature is that almost all of them wear a coloured turban (perhaps a sign of his passion for Spain).

Far from his landscapes and history paintings, which are often dull and strict, his portraits are light and cheerful. The women look you in the eyes and smile as if they carry mysteries.
