Further information

Dimensions 61 × 66 cm

From 1897 to 1912, he settled in Montmartre, where he painted local life.
From 1902 to 1913, he exhibited at the Salons des Indépendants d'Automne and des Humoristes.
From 1912, he lived in Marseille, where he contributed to the rediscovery of Puget and, above all, Daumier.

He captured the famous artists of the Paris scene of the Belle Epoque, also known through the work of Toulouse Lautrec, whose style he often recalls.
Simplifying shapes and colors, going straight to the point, he captured both well-known and unknown characters of popular life.

We also owe him the invaluable portraits of Degas, Lautrec, Bruant, Courteline, Jehan Rictus, Jacques Villon, Matisse, Georges Pioch, Eric Satie, Georges Braque, Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon and Pablo Picasso.

In addition to scenes of Parisian life, he painted views of Montmartre and sensitive landscapes from Mantes to Saint Cloud.

Our painting perfectly expresses the artist's career, here a print seller on a street, selling reproductions of Modigliani and Marie Laurencin.

Grass-Mick perfectly masters the atmosphere of Paris, which he reproduces on his canvas with great tenderness.
