His father, a lace designer, introduced him to a decorating workshop, where he soon became a mural decorator. Then, strongly influenced by Impressionist theories, he began his artistic career.
He was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1923, and elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Vuillard's place in 1940.
He exhibits at the Salon des Artistes Français. and won third- and second-class medals in 1907 and 1910; awarded the Prix Rosa Bonheur in 1920
Montézin 's painting was a great success. His technique, a distant legacy of Impressionism, seduced with its virtuosity.
