He worked in Gérome's studio. He appeared in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1887 to 1900, and at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.

Joseph Faverot, who was very close to the circus world, painted many clown and cabaret canvases.
He also specialises in depictions of animal life, from small representations to large canvases, his roosters and hens are often majestic.
Our rooster hunter is full of life. Faverot skilfully masters the colours and especially the movement. The perspective is very interesting, giving the impression that the mice are trying to get out of the canvas.
